Brewer Daniels Biography
I began my acting career in the mid-1980s after graduating college with a degree in speech, theater, and creative writing. I acted in Off-Broadway productions by proven playwrights such as George Bernard Shaw, Neil Simon, William Inge as well as in new works. Touring the Midwest and South, I performed at dinner theater in plays and musicals such as “Butterflies Are Free”, “Minnie’s Boys”, “The Odd Couple” and “Deathtrap”. I played David in “David and Lisa” in a small black box theater in an Equity production in Indiana. I understudied the role of Barnette in a National Tour of “Crimes of the Heart”. Two full-length plays that I authored have also been performed Off-Off-Broadway.
For three years I appeared in regional Sears commercials as a clumsy small appliance salesperson. I was featured in a national Red Hook Tobacco commercial as a WWII soldier. In another commercial I played a Cub Scout Leader for a product called S’mores.
In the late 1980s, my partner David, was diagnosed with AIDS. I left show business to take care of him and began a career in the AIDS field. While working for Gay Men’s Health Crisis, a leading AIDS service provider in New York, I obtained an MA in healthcare, and eventually became a fundraiser for nonprofits throughout NYC. David lived with AIDS for 7 years.
To help fulfill my creative needs during my hiatus from show business, I began writing and performing one-act musicals at cabaret clubs throughout NYC starting in the late 1980s. I have written over 25 of these shows, having performed the most recent one at Don’t Tell Mama in the fall of 2021. A new show is coming soon.
In 2019, I left the nonprofit world, seeking to reestablish a career in show business. Since then, I have acted in 3 full length movies, several short festival-driven movies, been featured in numerous infomercials and industrials, numerous print jobs and cast in several theater productions. My most current success is in having created the role of Sgt. Mike Green, a recurring character who can be seen in a series of YouTube videos by SoulSnack, which have over 20 million views on YouTube.
